Health and Safety Apprentice

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice who wishes to grow their career as part of a busy Health and Safey (H&S) team. This apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while developing essential H&S skills. During your apprenticeship you will support the application of H&S policies and procedures within the organisation and help provide a professional service to clients and project teams.
Starting in September 2025, you’ll have the opportunity to study for a Level 3 Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Technician qualification with a leading provider while working alongside and learning from professional expertise. The qualification will earn you the TechIOSH accreditation too. We’ll cover all the costs for your qualification, which will take you approximately 2 years. You’ll also get priceless experience working alongside qualified professionals on various projects and with various client groups during this time. You’ll have a structured training plan, access to a buddy and support from fellow Apprentices, giving you the best possible start to your career.

What you’ll be doing:
• Gaining a basic understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations and management systems
• Supporting senior colleagues in monitoring site safety standards, ensuring compliance with regulations and identifying potential hazards on site and workplace inspections
• Assisting with conducting risk assessments, site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with the relevant health and safety legislation
• Helping to organise and deliver health and safety training and toolbox talks
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation
• Supporting and assisting the business in undertaking their health and safety related duties
• Attending meetings with senior colleagues, acting as notetaker and to assist with report writing skills
What you’ll need:
Qualifications
• English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) at grade C/4+
• UK Driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Familiarity with the basic forms of construction and health and safety legislation or an appetite to learn more
Knowledge
• Proficient in the use of MS Office
• An awareness of basic building construction/site activities and an appetite to learn more
• A beginners knowledge of H&S legislation
Skills
• Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
• Strong attention to detail
• Capable of working with figures and general mathematics
• Curious problem solver
• Good time management skills
• Experience of working as part of a team
• Able to work on own initiative
Eligibility for an Apprenticeship
You must have the legal right to work in the UK as we’re unable to sponsor Apprentices. You will not be eligible for an Apprenticeship if;
• You’ve already got qualifications, in the same subject area, that are at a higher grade than the Apprenticeship you’ve applied for
• You’ve already achieved the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for the relevant Apprenticeship qualification
• You’re in full time education (including undertaking another Apprenticeship) in September 2025
• The Apprenticeship you’re applying for duplicates what you’ve already learnt
